Seamus Howlin, Chairman of the Leinster Council, presented the winning teams with their trophies along with Conor Carmody, Meteor’s Marketing Director and Tom Barry Chairman of the Kilmacud Crokes Hurling Section.

An all Tipperary Senior Cup Final provided an exciting spectacle of skilful hurling action with Moycarkey Borris battling it out against Kilruane McDonaghs in a thrilling competition. Moycarkey Borris were comprehensive winners on the day beating their county neighbours 8-11 to 4-15. Moycarkey also picked up additional silverware with goalkeeper John Kelly being awarded the Player of the Tournament.

The Shield competition also saw two teams from the same county go head to head in an all-Mayo Final with Ballyhaunis overcoming Tooreen with a score of 2-10 to 0-10.

The winners of the under 13s competition were James Stephens from Kilkenny who beat the host club Kilmacud Crokes.

For the first time this year, a new Hurling Wall competition called “Balla Ball” was also piloted at the Meteor Kilmacud Crokes All-Ireland Hurling Sevens. The skill on display in this new element attracted a huge crowd with home club player Adrian Grogan winning the Adult competition and Loughlin McCarthy from Midleton in Cork coming out on top in the U13s.

Commenting on the day, Tom Rock, Chairman of the Meteor Kilmacud Crokes Hurling Sevens Workgroup congratulated all participants and highlighted that the Meteor Cup is now one of the most coveted prizes in Club Hurling. “The tournament has been a huge success and it was great to see such a fantastic turnout today with the crowd enjoying near perfect weather conditions.”

Meteor’s Director of Marketing, Conor Carmody, said, “Congratulations to the winners and teams that participated in the Meteor Kilmacud Crokes All-Ireland Hurling Sevens today”.

This is the second year that Meteor has sponsored this competition and we are proud to be associated with a key grassroots event in Irish sport.
