The fact four Kilmacud Crokes players, Barry O’Rorke (captain), Rory O’Carroll, Rob O’Loughlin and Kevin O’Loughlin played such a prominent role in the capture by Dublin of the county’s twelfth Leinster Minor Hurling Crown on Sunday 1^st July 2007 makes it timely to set out the full list of Crokes players to achieve such honours:

There is some question whether Brian Campbell, listed in “The History of Dublin GAA 1884-2000” by Nolan, Wren, de Burca and Gorry (2005) as a St Columba's player was in fact a Crokes player.

The current Kilmacud Crokes club arises from the amalgamation of the Crokes Hurling Club and Kilmacud GAA Club in 1966.  The Crokes Hurling Club originated in the early 1920’s under the guidance of Michael Curran, long time Croke Park groundsman, to cater for the boys of the immediate vicinity.  The Curran name was to be associated with the club for many years after.  For further detail on Michael Curran click HERE

The first name is not known and it seems the name Croke Park United was adopted in 1925 on the suggestion of Curran and Jack Connolly.  From Ballypatrick, Thurles, Connolly won eight senior championship and six league titles with Faughs and played for Dublin from 1901 to 1914.  The proprietor of the Parnell House, while chairman of Parnells GFC, he was instrumental in the acquisition of Parnell Park in 1923.  He was taken ill while referring a game between Kevins and McKee (Barracks) in 1928 and died shortly after.
